My friend Jonny Ashcroft is an accomplished artist, brand designer, and creative consultant. He has recently started sending out a weekly email newsletter, and inside that newsletter he includes a poem. So while i’ve been in Japan I’ve been working on producing new music, and so I turned this poem into a song. “Hitchin’ On A Cloud” the poem was first sent in the newsletter on January 19, 2024 and I turned it into a song by February 1, 2024. While creating the song I decided to include some personal moments within the song which includes a time when Jonny and I hung out on the roof of his office in Portland, Oregon. In this moment on the rooftop, I mention it would be amazing to do a sunset show, and I was able to do that a few months later. After creating the song, Jonny created it’s cover art (fun fact, he also created the cover art for my very first album back in 2009). It’s a blessing to have friends you can connect and collaborate with, because you can build each other up by using each others strengths.
