My Typical Day at the Park Hyatt Niseko
A day in the life as a full time musician living and working at the Park Hyatt Niseko, Japan
Here is what a typical day looks like for me as a full time musician. I’m currently performing at the Park Hyatt Niseko located in Hokkaido, Japan. This is a premier ski and snowboarding destination, and the Park Hyatt provides the best service and features for its customers. So having live music is a feature for the guest experience.
I usually wake up around 8 or 8:30am, but I don’t set my alarm, I like to wake up naturally. I’ll immediately go into a 10 minute meditation routine. Sometimes I will do a yoga routine also. I get ready for the day and head to the breakfast buffet. The complimentary Breakfast buffet is extensive and covers many different types of Cusine including western, chinese, and of course japanese. After breakfast, I usually head to the Mountain Lounge, and set up my computer to do some work there for a few hours. I have a daily routine that includes doing some reading and taking notes, creating some new music, and writing in a journal. Around 2:30pm I’ll take a break from my computer to go to the gym. I’ll spend about 30 to 45 minutes there. Afterwords, Sometimes I’ll go outside to cool off from the workout. It really is a beautiful sight here. Then I’ll shower, change, and then get some late lunch in the employee cafeteria. I’ll have about an hour to finish up whatever I’m working on: sometimes back on my computer, practicing music, or just chilling. By 5:45pm I’ll go to the lounge to set up my music gear to perform. Then I will perform from 6pm to 7:30pm. Then i’ll move the music gear to the bar, and then I’ll have time to eat some dinner. The dinner buffet is delicious and has wagyu beef steak every night and a bunch of sides. I can also order Ala cart pasta and noodles if I want. At 8:30pm I will start performing in the bar. And depending on the night it can be really fun with guests coming up to the stage to do some duets. Some nights there aren’t as many people, but it’s still fun. Around 10:30pm I am finished, and I turn off my equipment and head back to my room. I’ll probably spend an hour winding down by watching a movie, or relaxing, and then I will fall asleep around 1am.
