Officially Moving to Albuquerque!
so... you might think that i'm crazy but I am now moving from Austin to Albuquerque and i'll tell you why it's not crazy. (and it's in list form!) 1. Too Many Musicians (TMM) I have met so many great musicians that are at different levels in their career which has been great! the networking has been amazing. But the shows that I have played have been awful! Many venues have 15+ bands a night and with only 20 minute sets which has been a big adjustment for me playing 3 hours shows.
2. No $$ as a Musician (N$M) Because of the sheer number of musicians that are in Austin, the venues don't pay hardly anything at all. Sometimes payment comes in the form of drinks or the ability to put it on your resume. There is nothing wrong with that, but I have been living as a full time musician for the last two years just on the ability to perform and entertain.
3. Albuquerque is a Centralized Location to the Southwest (ACLS) As you know I grew up in Albuquerque, NM but started my music career in Las Cruces, NM. Moving to Albuquerque will give me the opportunity to not only travel back to Austin when I want to, but also back to Tucson, Phoenix, Denver, Las Cruces, El Paso, and other locations that were out of reach when I was living in Austin.
4. Focus (F) Recently I have also changed my focus to try and reach out to as many people as possible, meaning to the entire world! To do this I have been working on my Youtube videos consistently and it has reached a new kind of fans that wasn't possible. So with this new focus, I have found that it doesn't matter where I live, I just need to reach out to anyone that wants to hear me play:)
So I hope you understand that "Austin didn't work out for me" because it did! It made me realize that there are bigger things out there then just Austin. And of course i'll be visiting Austin when I can.
